What we collect
When you fill in an enquiry form, we collect the details you give us: usually your name, email address, phone number and your message. You may also tell us about the person who needs care, such as their circumstances or health.
If you use the live chat, we collect what you type and any contact details you choose to share.
When you browse the site, we collect information about your visit, such as the pages you view, how you arrived, your approximate location, and your device and browser. This is collected through cookies and similar technology, described below.
How we use it and why
We use your enquiry details to reply to you, arrange a free assessment and talk to you about care. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a care arrangement, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
We use website visit information to understand how the site is used, improve it, and measure how well our advertising works. The lawful basis is our legitimate interests, and your consent where the law requires it.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing unless you have asked us to keep in touch.
Health information
Information about someone's health is special category data and we treat it with extra care. Only share what you are comfortable sharing through the website. You can always give us more detail by phone or at the assessment instead.
Where you do give us health information in an enquiry, we use it only to understand the care needed and to respond to you, on the basis that it is needed to arrange health or social care, or with your explicit consent.
If care goes ahead, the care records we keep are covered by the information we give you as a client, in line with CQC requirements.
Cookies, analytics and live chat
This site uses Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it, and Google Ads to measure whether our adverts lead to enquiries, for example when someone taps a phone number or sends the enquiry form. These services use cookies. Google's own privacy policy explains how it handles this data: policies.google.com/privacy.
Our live chat is provided by tawk.to, which uses cookies so a conversation continues as you move between pages.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them, although live chat may not.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with organisations that help us run the website and respond to you, and only as much as they need. These are our website hosting provider, our website support agency Pure Marketing Services Ltd, Google (analytics and advertising measurement), tawk.to (live chat) and our email provider.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they are required to protect it to a standard equivalent to UK law.
We may also share information where the law requires it, for example with the Care Quality Commission, the local authority or the police.
How long we keep it and how we protect it
We keep enquiry details only for as long as we need them to respond to you and follow up on your enquiry. If you become a client, your information is kept in line with the records we are legally required to hold as a regulated care provider.
Website analytics data is kept in Google Analytics under its standard retention settings.
The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to enquiries is limited to the staff who need to deal with them.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.
To make a request, email admin@astarcareservices.co.uk or write to us at either address above. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
